CHI CENTRE COURSES:
STUDENTS' FEEDBACK ON THE COURSE

OUTSTANDING WORK OF THE MONTH
Every month students submit assignments and case histories. Some of the work is truly outstanding and is of value to students, practitioners and clients.  Here is the best student work for November 2007.
Describe how your perception of colon hydrotherapy and yourself as a future colon therapist has changed compared to the start of the course (500 words please).

Having taken the decision to diversify upon my professional nursing skills, I came onto this course with an open mind.  I had experienced 2 colonics, approached in 2 very different ways, and was able to analyze what I liked and disliked about each of them.  I was also quite analytical about the way in which I would do things different.

I was able to ask a colleague of mine who attended another school what her feelings about her course were, and was quite surprised to find that she was not particularly impressed by the training but she had got the certificate she needed to give her the credibility to practice.

As I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent person, if that’s what I had to do to enable me to practice so be it.  My initial scan of the Chi Centre training manual was that I wouldn't’ have any trouble getting through the assignments.  The reality was that I had to spend 4 weeks studying the manual before I could put pen to paper.  This was going to be harder than I thought!!  Why did I need to know this in such depth to perform such a straightforward procedure?

Now having almost completed the course, I know that is essential that the students’ knowledge of the working of the human digestive system is important to be able to bring together what the client tells you, what they are not telling you and what you see and feel while undertaking the treatment.

I feel that, unconsciously, prior to the course, I have viewed the treatment more as a procedure than a therapy but can now view the treatment more holistically, and be able to offer the client a better service by being able to see the bigger picture.

In my professional life, I do many procedures, which offer solutions to problems, and whilst I try to be holistic in my approach, my 10 or 15 minutes of time which is allocated to me per person, dictates that maybe my approach is more practitioner focused than client/patient focused.

My professional skills have made it easier for me to grasp the practical aspects of colon hydrotherapy, and I am quite proud of myself for this.

I am enjoying the luxury of being able to spend an hour with clients, taking cues from them which enable me to focus upon their needs.  On reflection, I now wish I had though about doing this a couple of years ago.

Looking forward, I can see that I already need to expand my knowledge of nutrition as I can already see a pattern in the reasons why people chose to embark upon colonics as a therapy.
The course has given me excellent grounding to make the change in my career and I am looking forward to the next year of building a new business and watching myself develop.

The July 2007 Student Group (Dee, Elaine, Alberta and Lorraine) share their impressions of the course and give advice to future students:

"It was an outstanding course. Not only had it put me on the beginning of my business journey but, even better, my personal journey.

Just read the manual, stay focused in training, as what you put into the course is what you will get out of the course. Good luck on your journey.

The Colon Hydrotherapy Course was intense but rewarding. It enabled me to make the mind-gut connection and understand how illnesses can manifest and affect the bowel and its functioning. The course is well structured and the manual is of an extremely high standard. The course definitely prepares you to be an effective and confident practitioner.

Advice to the future students: definitely read the manual prior to attending. Concentrate on A&P and the digestive system. The manual is enough to see you through the course, so get to know it inside out!

It was an eye-opener; it has helped me to realize my core and how to develop it. I must say that it is a lot  more than "sticking pipes in people's bums." Expect a life-changing experience!

READ THE MANUAL, COME PREPARED

Less is more... and the results are amazing!

I would like to start by thank you so much ................ this colonic malachy is brilliant.

I couldn't have wished for a better response and I have had brilliant feedback.

I have learnt so much and of course continue to learn but I have had some brilliant complIments from complete newbies who were extremely nervous at the prospect of me shoving a tube up their bottom but went away feeling great and wondering what all the fuss was about to oldies who said I was extremely professional and thorough ....... of course all credit was given to my brilliant tutors!!!!

Thankyou for your advice about "less is more": that was a gem and the results have been amazing

"It is the best course in any alternative therapy that I have seen and been to "

Regarding feedback to the course these are my points:

It is an intensive and comprehensive course so the candidates should have some experience in working hard and long hours and still have energy and willingness to study.

Background wise it is a plus to have body work background or nutrition/alternative therapy background but it may not be must. What is must is some knowledge of anatomy and physiology as otherwise it would take
the students too much to catch up.

Folder is amazing and so good that I could not possibly add anything to it. Maybe just like I said yesterday e-mail students the "50" questions before the first two days of the course to make them read A&P info.

5 days of practice were amazingly organized and provided everything we needed so I have nothing to suggest.

I have nothing more to add that may be useful other than it is the best course in any alternative therapy that I have seen and been to and you are the best teacher as your goal is always to make us first better people and
then we would become better practitioner! I do not know any teacher who does that so thank you again for going that "extra mile" for me.
